How the calculator works
For each payment the calculator uses the provider’s price: a percentage of your average order value plus a fixed fee per transaction. Where the price list has a minimum or maximum fee, it is applied. We add the monthly fee and, if you enter any, the dispute fees.
If a provider does not offer a payment method — Stripe’s standard price list has no Baltic bank payments, for example — the calculator assumes those buyers pay with an EU card. Paysera’s price depends on the number of transactions, and above 750 transactions a month it is set individually.
We checked the prices in the providers’ public price lists on 27 September 2026. They exclude VAT.
If you have negotiated different rates
In the ‘Rates’ section you can overwrite any rate. You can also add your own provider — a bank offer or an Interchange++ price, for example — and compare it with the public prices. Changes stay on this page and are not saved. If you need to keep them, download the Excel file.
Why your average order value matters
For a small order the fixed fee weighs more than the percentage. A fee of 1.5% + €0.25 is 4.0% on a €10 order, 2.1% on €40 and 1.7% on €150. If your shop has many small orders, compare the fixed fee as well as the percentage.
What the calculator does not cover
- Shopify’s third-party fee. If your shop runs on Shopify and uses an external provider for bank payments, Shopify adds 0.2–2% depending on your plan.
- Subscription tools. Subscription management may carry its own fee. Stripe Billing charges 0.7% of billing volume on top of the card fee.
- Declined payments. Compare them in the ‘Does a pricier provider pay off?’ section.
- Reserves and payout schedules. Paysera, for example, holds back part of card payments.
- Bookkeeping work. Every payout has to be reconciled with orders and the bank statement.

Frequently asked questions
Do the calculator’s prices include VAT?
No. All prices exclude VAT, as shown in the providers’ price lists.
Can I enter my own negotiated rates?
Yes. Edit the rates in the ‘Rates’ section or add your own provider. Changes are not saved, but you can download an Excel file with your own numbers.
Why does Paysera show individual pricing?
Paysera’s public price list covers up to 750 transactions a month. Above that, prices are set individually.
Does the calculator work for a Shopify shop?
Partly. It shows the providers’ standard prices. For a Shopify shop, add Shopify’s third-party fee for external providers, and note that some providers have a separate price list for Shopify.
How does the calculator estimate the effect of declined payments?
It compares two providers: fees on approved payments and gross profit lost on declined payments. The calculation allows for buyers who pay another way after a decline.
