Cookie Policy
Effective from: 5 August 2026
This policy explains what cookies I use on smaida.eu, why, and how you can change your choice.
For more on how personal data is processed — see the privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. They help the site work and — if you allow it — let me understand how the site is used.
Alongside cookies, I also use the browser's local storage (localStorage), which works similarly. In this policy, "cookies" refers to both.
Categories
The website currently uses two categories of cookies.
Necessary
The site would not work without these. They cannot be turned off, and they do not require consent.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| smaida-consent | SMAIDA | Stores your cookie choice | Until deleted |
Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(f).
Analytics — only with your consent
Helps understand how many people visit the site and which pages are read. I use the data to improve the site, not to identify individuals.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes visitors | 2 years | |
| _ga_VWFERKM1HN | Stores session state | 2 years |
Important: the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all until you give consent. If you choose "Reject", these cookies never appear.
Beyond the cookie lifespan in your browser, Google Analytics retains aggregated event data on its servers for 2 months and user data for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(a) — your consent.
Recipient: Google Ireland Limited as data processor. Data may also be processed in the US — see privacy policy section 5 for transfers outside the EU.
How to choose or change your settings
On your first visit, a banner appears with three choices:
- Accept — analytics on
- Reject — analytics off
- Customise — opens settings where each category can be switched individually
You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the page footer. If you withdraw consent, any analytics cookies already set are deleted.
You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that this will also remove your saved choice, and the banner will appear again.
When this list changes
If I add new tools to the website that use cookies, I update this page and — if a new category appears — ask for consent again.
The date at the top of the page shows when the list was last reviewed.
